obsessed with quality coffee
Since 2014, we’ve been pursuing a different vision of coffee—an approach that, especially in Italy, puts the
culture of this beverage back at the center: an understanding of its origins, the value of time, the importance of taste, and
mindfulness. Because we believe that coffee only gets better when we stop taking it for granted.
Discover our story
We believe in a coffee culture rooted in research, travel, and genuine passion. An idea that places quality, time, and knowledge at the center, to change the way coffee is experienced.
In 2014, Maurizio and Sonia Valli founded the Bugan Coffee Lab, a pioneering project on the Italian scene: a coffee lab that combines a micro-roastery, an academy, a cupping room, and a coffee shop. A place designed to offer tastings of specialty coffees selected directly at their source during trips to plantations, and to promote a coffee culture based on the pursuit of the finest raw materials, uncompromising quality, and the people who, like us, are truly passionate about coffee.
The place where it all began
Our story is one of continuous exploration, journeys back to our roots, and choices that are never random. A journey
built over time, guided by a passion for coffee and a constant desire to understand it, celebrate it,
and share its story more effectively.
Never change a winning team
We consistently rank among the top in Italian championships and are a constant presence on the world stage, such as the World Barista Championship. These achievements stem from tireless teamwork, built on research, collaboration, and a shared vision. Visit our Wall of Fame
Only the best in specialty coffee
We discover coffees through constant research and select only the very best the earth has to offer: specialty
coffees that win us over, that envelop us, and that tell unique stories. Each origin is chosen for its quality,
character, and identity, with the goal of bringing only excellence to the cup—without compromise.

But why does
have a bug?
Maurizio, who has always loved plants, is particularly drawn to bougainvillea: a vibrant, colorful,
lively flower. An image that resonates with our vision of coffee—expressive, lively, and capable of
leaving a lasting impression.
This is what we live for 👇
